Rabbit Ridge Winery Description
On a wooded hillside in the Russian River Valley, under an overgrown canopy of purple wisteria, is the tasting room of Rabbit Ridge Winery. The winemaking operation of Rabbit Ridge has since moved south to Paso Robles, but they still maintain their Sonoma tasting room, pouring their many rich red wines, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Italian varietals.
The tasting room is a casual affair with a crescent-shaped, glass-block tasting counter and bright “Tuscan yellow” walls. A few wine accessories are for sale.
The winery has large vineyard holdings in the Paso Robles area and produces a range of California varietals. Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Merlot and some proprietary blends top their list. A Rhone Valley Viognier is also produced. NOTE: the tasting room was sold in October 2007 so stay tuned as to what the future of the place will be.

Slightly disappointedTylerBC05, San Rafael I read that the tasting room changed ownership in October 2007, and hopefully this will mark an improvement in their operation. I stopped in after a long day of tasting in Dry Creek and Russian River Valleys and decided to give it a shot. The place was pretty busy, lots of kids running around. Kind of felt like a zoo inside the tasting room and the host pretty much just gave us our tastes without saying much more than the varietal we were drinking. This would be a great place to come to with kids and I'm sure families enjoy its amusement-park like atmosphere, but I'm not one of those people. Will be interested to see how the new management has (hopefully) turned things around.
