Ranchita Canyon Vineyard Description
Ranchita Canyon Vineyard’s first vines were planted in 1970, when all that stood on the property was a solitary windmill. At this time, the wines produced by the vineyard were sold under the Ranchita Oaks Winery label, which produced wines until 1982. In 1999, owners Bill and Teresa Hinrichs purchased the property and have been working hard since that time to bring finely crafted wines for you to enjoy.
Since 1999, Bill and Teresa have planted 50 acres of vines on their property, which includes ten different varietals. This diverse array of grape varietals provides them with many different blending options for their small production of approximately 1,000 cases annually. Ranchita Canyon Vineyard offers a wine for everyone’s palette from Rhone and Bordeaux blends, to Sauvignon Blanc, to California favorites such as Zinfandel, as well as a Port to enjoy at the end of a meal.
The winery’s tasting room is located at the end of a beautiful vine lined road in San Miguel. The drive alone will wet your palette as you begin to imagine the fine wines that can be made from the hundreds of acres of vineyards that surround you. The tasting room is directly adjacent to the owner’s home, and there is an inviting patio on the front of the tasting room for you to relax and enjoy the view. The tasting room is located within the barrel storage room and the owner himself will take you through his diverse tasting list at his small wooden tasting bar.
