Rochioli Winery Description

Just off Westside Drive there is a path down a narrow little walkway that leads to a courtyard with a tremendous view of the extensive Rochioli Vineyard.

The adjacent tasting room is a stylish affair with a granite-topped tasting counter, tile floors and a small art gallery. As you taste their selections and enjoy the views, stroll around the room and notice the White House menus featuring Rochioli wines.

The Rochioli family has been farming vineyards in the Russian River Valley since the late 1930s. Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir dominate the vineyard, with many different clones and growing systems chosen for the specific soil types, elevation and exposure to the sun. The results are unique “blocks” within the vineyard that contribute to the subtle nuances of a finished wine.

It wasn’t until after almost 50 years of tending the vines that the family started making wine with their own name on the bottle. With son Tom as winemaker, the second generation of the Rochioli family is now known for producing outstanding examples of premier Russian River varietals.

Rochioli Vineyard
Mdenson, Parker
Stopped by Rochioli during the first weekend of barrel tasting even though they weren't part of the barrel tasting. I was told this winery was quite snobbish, but pleased to find just the opposite. Only had a couple available for tasting, but they were fabulous, 09 Estate Chardonnay and 09 Estate Pinot. I really think this was my favorite Pinot of the entire weekend. It's on my wish list but it's $50+ so I didn't buy a case at the time. I would recommend anyone in this area stob by. We did buy the Chardonnay, which I usually don't drink, but an exception is in order here.

Beautiful, laid-back experience
TylerBC05,
I walked in with a group of fellow Harvest Interns and was warmly greeted by our tasting room host. The layout of the tasting room is pretty sparse, with a few books and logo items for sale. However, one comes to Rochioli primarily for their award winning wine. Although their pricier single-estate wines weren't available for tasting, we did get to try a few, more available bottlings, such as the Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Noir (for which they are probably most famous). The windows of the tasting room provided views of the estate-owned vineyard and the garden out in front seemed like a peaceful place to sit and hang out in the shade. Going midday on a weekday definitely contributed to the more relaxed atmosphere, as West Side Road tends to look a lot like Highway 29 in Napa on the weekends. Would definitely bring my friends here again!
