For years, vintners have coveted a stretch of land in the western end of Santa Barbara's Santa Rita Hills AVA known to have the perfect microclimate, soils, and exposure to grow world-class Pinot Noir. In 1999, this sought-after stretch of land became Sea Smoke Vineyard, fulfilling a long-held dream of owner Bob Davids.
At Sea Smoke, they produce Pinot Noir grown exclusively on the south-facing hillsides of their estate vineyards. Their artisanal approach to winemaking results in wines that are a reflection of the unique land on which they are grown. Sea Smoke's rare geography and commitment to quality has produced wines of exceptional complexity and grace.
Sea Smoke is not open to the public. While they greatly appreciate the many tour inquires they receive, they are not able to offer tours. Sea Smoke is a small team of only six people. Sea Smoke does not feature a tasting room because they have no wine available for sale at the winery. Sea Smoke wines are pre-allocated to their List Members and to their distributor partners before release each year, and are sold out upon release. BUT - Sea Smoke wines are available to taste at the Taste of Santa Rita Hills tasting room in the Lompoc Wine Ghetto.
