Summers Estate Wines Description
The Summers family’s lifestyle strives for the perfect balance of pleasure and productivity by living in a small town, growing grapes, making premium quality wine -- and making time for visiting, relaxing and just playing around. The laid-back atmosphere at this northern Napa Valley winery, however, conceals a dedication to making fine, memorable wines.
Villa Andriana Vineyards surrounds the winery and is named after the Summers’ daughter. It is planted to Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon and the unusual variety of Charbono. This grape is thought to be an early Italian immigrant version of Charbonneau, a French varietal. Some believe that this grape is a close relative to the Dolcetto variety, which is widely grown in northern Italy. The vine bears very large berries that make an intense dark red wine that, when subjected to extended skin contact during fermentation, is full of fruit flavor and low in tannins.
An additional vineyard is owned in nearby Knights Valley, producing elegant and full-bodied Merlot and lush and jammy Petite Sirah. The winery also produces a fruity Muscat Canelli and a Rose.
The tasting room and entertainment facility is a separate structure with a spacious interior, a picnic area, and a Bocce Ball court available for guests.

Good Merlot & CharbonoTara, Savoy If you went to Summers a few years ago when their tasting room was a kitschy shack, then go again and see their beautiful new tasting room. Same friendly staff. Their Knight's Valley merlot is among the best made in Napa/Sonoma. I've served it to friends several times, and always get that comment. Knight's Valley is located between Napa Valley and Alexander Valley. Summers also makes a Charbono that has a cult following. Charbono is not my style, but if you're a fan, check theirs out. Although food is not paired with wine at the tasting room, we were provided with a great chart on choosing cheeses, meats, fruits/vegetables, herbs to go with each of their wines. Obviously a lot of effort was put into this, and I'd love to see more wineries provide this information.

Friendly Folk and Tasty WineJames, Sacremento We had never heard of this place but thought we would stop and check it out. We were glad we did. We tasted, we talked, we hung out and we brought home some wine. Really nice folks here and very low-key compared to some other Napa stops.
