Tamás Estate Winery Description

Part of the Wente family of wineries, and sharing the extensive family property, Tamas Winery produces estate-grown wines from traditional Italian grape varieties. Founded by Ivan Tamas Fuezy and Steve Mirassou in 1984, the winery has since changed owners but has continued the vision of creating unique, affordable, fruit-forward, food-friendly wines.

The winery makes Pinot Grigio, Sangiovese, Barbera, Zinfandel and their Vino Rosso blend. In addition, they also produce a “Prima Classe” line that combines a super-Tuscan blend with a Barbera Port. These wines are made from hand-sorted fruit that is lightly crushed and hand-punched. Top-quality oak barrels and longer aging periods distinguish this premium line. All are available for tasting.

The tasting room is on the estate winery property of Wente Vineyards, and is adjacent to their expansive tasting room. The mood here is perhaps more refined, with its low ceiling, stone-like tile floor, marble-topped tasting bar and beautiful mini-patio with a bubbling fountain. The Tuscan-themed interior is pleasant and not overstated.

Wonderful value

Small tasting room with entertaining and knowledgeable hosts. Shares a parking lot with Wente, which is also great. I visit the National labs on business when I am in Livermore and I have been to Tamas three times. Impressive wines and great prices. Their Barbera is so good I took a case home on the airplane. I will visit here every time I go to Livermore.

Ssper Super Tuscan

Next door to their big brother winery Wente, this place has some different wines and we especially liked the Barbera and the Super Tuscan.

We liked this place a lot. The people were good to us and the wines were not the usual faire. The favorite of our group was the Barbera and the Super Tuscan Blend. Both wonderful aromatic wines with plenty of body and rich flavors. The place is pretty neat as well including the little patio. Nice stop.
