Thornton Winery Description
Thornton Winery is a French-chateau-style destination winery with lovely patios and terraces, a full-service restaurant, gift shop and a sit-down Champagne Lounge. The lounge serves various flights of still and sparkling wines, as well as wonderful gourmet food choices.
Sitting on the south side of the valley, Thornton Winery is an impressive place with lots to do and see. As you enter the Fountain Terrace Restaurant, the grassy lawn area and the patio is to your left, with the winery, gift shop, tasting room and more patios to your right. There are wine caves, an herb garden, VIP tasting programs, winemaker dinners, and regular tours to keep you busy. There is a regular Jazz Music Concert Series in the summer, and other events held throughout the year.
The focus at Thornton is on Méthode Champenoise sparkling wine, with seven different sparklers, including an almond-flavored option. Still wines are also made, using whole-cluster pressing, extensive blending and barrel aging.
The tasting program offers many opportunities to taste, either by the glass or by tasting tiers of sparkling, red, white or a mix of wines.

ClassicEvaree, Los Angeles Thorton is the epitome of class. It is the very first winery on Rancho California. It is worth stopping into. They have a different style to wine tasting. You can sit in their restaurant and order your flight with food. They bring out a paper with descriptions of each wine on your flight. Their cheese platter is amazing also. I like their red wine flight the best. Tasting in their cellar cave is fun as well.

NiceTemeculawinos, Temecula The location is getting weathered, but the wine is good and you can sit at a table and have some food while tasting.

Very niceansmom, San Diego I very much liked this winery and restaurant, the cheese with pesto was great! and my kids liked it. The service was slow. The tasting room was very upscale in experience, but worth the price. I only purchased the Almond champagne because of kids getting ancy. All wine very quality and worth the price.

More Than Just WineJavier, Portland On my trip into Temecula Valley I made the wisest decision when I decided to stop at Thornton Winery. I was lucky enough to visit Thornton Winery on the evening of one of there Jazz concerts they hold in Cafe Champagne. The music was contemporary and the venue was packed with a unique blend of wine & jazz lovers, the experience was one to remember. I ended up staying in the area overnight, only to return the next afternoon to enjoy a wonderful meal in the Cafe along with a glass of there 2002 Muscat Canelli.
