Veris Cellars Description
On top of a small knoll, just above Highway 46 West near Paso Robles, sits a historic, Victorian farm house and the lovely location of Veris Cellars Home of JanKris & Ben Hogan Wines. It may be the only tasting room with a driving range for golfers in the state.
As you drive up to the cluster of ranch buildings you pass by a lawn and a covered patio area used for events. Up a flagstone walkway you come to the front porch of the quaint, old house that now operates as the winery offices, tasting room and event center. Inside are wooden floors and a spacious tasting bar.
In the Spring of 2008 a local vineyard owner, Mathew Talbert purchased the winery and has plans to re-energize the brand.Changes include a new winemaking and vineyard team, new label design and new distributor outreach efforts. The winery estate has also undergone extensive improvements to its tasting room and grounds, including a massive landscaping project designed to turn the property into Paso Robles’ premier garden, picnic and wine tasting destination.
Check out the driving range while you enjoy the Ben Hogan wines.
Veris Cellars wines are 100 percent estate grown; blending the subtle differences of east and west side Paso Robles grapes, grown on the JanKris properties. The wines are fruit forward with soft tannins and are a good value. Their vineyards are planted to Merlot, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Sangiovese, Petite Syrah, Petite Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Mourvèdre, Chardonnay, and Viognier. The label is known for its unique blends such as the Picaro, Riatta and Crossfire, a signature blend of Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah.

I have been back again and again! alinzey, Morro Bay I have been back to Veris several times because we always love it there. The staff is always wonderful, the tasting room is opening and friendly, and best part- you can hit golf balls off into the vineyards for free while you sip your wine! Awesome!

Golfing today? Kendra, Chico What a nice place up on the hill looking over the vineyard. They have a driving range of sorts and a few clubs and balls to smack out into the vineyard! But the wines stole the show. Good place to bring people and hangout.

Winery in Transition Eagle12, Chicago Liked the winery grounds and tasting room. We tried all Jan Kris wines and a couple sparkling offerings at the end. They had a remaining half price case sale. The person assisting us was knowledgeable and friendly. We did not purchase any wine but would return in a while to see how the transition works out.

Cute Little Winery shannon1, Los Angelas Even though the winery is pretty small it gives off a nice vibe when you go in there. Everything is wood and smells great. When I was there the people working there were all really friendly and they were telling me of the new plans they want to do in order to do some improvements. I really liked the Petite Syrah a lot and I am looking forward to going back.
