As a member of one of the Far Out Wineries, the off the beaten path ambiance begins as you travel along the meandering and scenic Adelaida Road to Villicana Winery. The winery is a boutique, family owned and operated affair with a production of less than 2,000 cases annually.
The winery’s tasting room is nestled in the corner of the production facility and like the winery, is small and intimate. A U-shaped tasting bar supported by wine barrels draws you in for a taste of one of the winery’s offerings and often provides you with the opportunity to chat with one of the owners. The winery also includes a patio and grassy area for you to enjoy a picnic or simply to take in the beautiful view.
Owners Alex and Monica Villicana dream of owning and operating a winery began in 1995, when they purchased 72 acres on the west side of Paso Robles. In accordance with their philosophy of wanting to truly understand every facet of the business, they personally planted their 13-acre vineyard. Varietals planted within their estate vineyard include Cabernet Franc Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Merlot, Mourvedre, Petit Verdot, Syrah and Zinfandel.
Everything about the winery truly makes it a family run operation. Alex is solely responsible for everything from farming the vineyard to bringing in the harvest, to crushing the grapes, to the actual wine making process. Alex and Monica intend to maintain their boutique size and have plans to produce a maximum of 5,000 cases annually. Alex and Monica welcome you and your family to come out and experience all that their boutique winery as to offer.
