Description

Perched atop Crane Ridge overlooking the beautiful Livermore Valley is the unassuming tasting room of White Crane Winery. The small converted barn hosts visitors interested in a wide variety of small-lot, limited-production premium wines. Most releases are between 90 and 500 cases. The funky red-roofed tasting room is accessed by big barn doors that open into the small crowded room, where two tasting bars host visitors. Gourmet olive oils and wine accessories are available.

The White Crane Winery label features estate-grown Cabernet, Chardonnay,
Petite Sirah and a Chardonnay Port. Additionally, they produce Cabernet
Franc, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Zinfandel and a Port made from traditional
Portuguese grapes. The handcrafted wines are made using American, French and Hungarian oak barrels. Their value-oriented label, Winery 21, offers a sparkling wine, a White Zinfandel, Pinot Grigio, Viognier and Cabernet Sauvignon. Wines are available only through the tasting room, their wine club, and for special events. The winery also has a tasting room on the coast in Capitola near Santa Cruz.

Also on the property is a small luxurious inn with panoramic views of Livermore Valley.

Little place Great wine
BJC, Pacific Palisades
January, 2008

You sometimes never know what you are in for when you stop to try a new place for wine. This little gem is an unassuming place with some very committed and passionate people running the place. We tasted a bunch of really good richly flavored wines. The reds had great mouth feel, fully expressive fruit and long finishes. We bought some and will be back with friends in the future.
