d'Art Wines Description

“Wine making is an expression of art, only using a different medium.” These are the words of the winemaker and owner of d’Art Wines, and they sum up the family’s passion for art and the reason for their leap into the wine business. Since opening d’Art Winery, Dave and Helen Dart now live the dream of combining their love of art with their love of wine.

Visitors enter the property, first passing though attractive black iron gates that bring them to the lushly landscaped, manicured grounds. To find the tasting room, wander down the short trail past the house and through the redwood trees to a small grassy lawn. There are a few picnic tables scattered around the luxuriant foliage leading to the winery. Inside the cozy uncluttered tasting area is a small maze of rooms with art displayed on all the walls; there are two tasting counters to serve you.

The wines are personally handcrafted in small lots, and the labels display art created by the winemaker. They depict the different places the owners have traveled around the world. Their Cabernet Sauvignon is grown on the property, and the Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, and Syrah fruit is sourced from other local vineyards. The wines are big and bold, with a fruit-forward style.

The Wine Frog
The Wine Frog , Sacramento
Winemaker Dave Dart personifies friendliness and hospitality. He may even pull you out of the tasting room for some barrel tasting and feedback. The big guy is one of the most friendly and down to Earth winemakers you are ever going to meet. No frills clean tasting room set up for easy access to barrel room. Nice art and dogs to greet you. Was a fruit fly invasion during crush, but that is part of the "time of the season" ambiance. Courtyard and picnic area very nice. Was high value on relative newcomers to the wine scene. Excellent Lodi grapes into full body reds, a very nice port and even a Dog Day. Nothing here overpriced, but a bargain in comparison to other areas. Quality of wine excellent. I prefer heavy body reds, and ports so I am in heaven here. The terrior in Lodi just produces some outstanding grapes, so even the Napa vintners buy them up. I prefer the opportunity to drink straight Lodi. Hand made. A must stop in my Lodi run as it is rarely crowded and a quiet retreat to relax and savor a port and a cigar. Wines great value at this juncture. Off the beaten path low profile ma and pa winery. The type I search out.

Some of the best reds in Lodi!
dulcesunshine, Sacramento
d'Art has some of the best reds in Lodi, hands down! You have to try their Zin and of course, the Estate Cabs. And you haven't had Lodi Port until you've tried Dave Dart's! Dave & Helen are the nicest people and are so passionate about their wine and happy to share their knowledge with everyone. They also have a beautiful piece of property nestled right in their vineyard. Great place to picnic!
